Ozonia Begins Startup At The Mwd Henry J. Mills Filtration Plant
Riverside, CA – First Phase start-up of an Ozonia 6,000 pound per day ozonation facility at the Henry J. Mills 220 MGD Filtration Plant has begun in Riverside, CA. The project is part of a $ 18 million contract between Ozonia and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) to supply two large scale ozonation facilities by 2005. The other plant is the Joseph Jensen Mills Water Treatment Facility (500 MGD) scheduled for completion in 2004.
Ozonia North America has mobilized a full time onsite crew to support the installation coordination and plant startup activities at the Mills facility. “I fully expect a successful startup of the Mills Plant with no surprises,” says Ozonia North America Project Manager Anthony Dusovic. “The level of knowledge, detail and commitment to quality by MWD, the contractor, Ozonia should guarantee that the Plant turn over to the Owner will be slightly ahead of schedule.”
Ozone will replace chlorine as the primary disinfectant used at both plants. The new treatment process will include the use of ozone and PEROXONE, a blend of ozone and hydrogen peroxide pioneered by Metropolitan and field tested successfully since 1992.
Ozonia North America is the leading manufacturer of Ozone and UV Disinfection Equipment around the world.
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) is a consortium of 26 cities and water districts that provides drinking water to nearly 17 million people in parts of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. Metropolitan currently delivers an average of 1.7 billion gallons of water per day to a 5,200-square-mile service area.
