Ozonia Supplies Largest Ozone Facility Asia

Ozonia Korea has successfully commissioned a large-scale municipal wastewater disinfection system at the Dalseo Sewage Treatment Works in Daegu City, South Korea. Final commissioning was completed in October 2002. The size and scope of the ozone generators make the Dalseo ozone facility the largest in Asia.

The 79.2 mgd (300,000 M3/d) Dalseo Sewage Treatment Works handles a combined industrial (47%) and municipal (53%) wastewater influent. Due to high industrial content, the COD is in excess of 40 ppm and color over 180 NTU. The Ozonia-supplied system includes six ozone generators; each rated at 61 kg/hr. (3221 lbs./day) at 10% weight concentration generated from an onsite VPSA oxygen generation plant.

Daegu City selected ozone due to the intense need to control color and other pollutants from being discharged into the Nahdong River. The Nahdong River is a major water artery in South Korea and water source for numerous municipalities down stream of Daegu City.
